Work Boots

I'm used to getting the 2350XP. Sold out so I switched to the 2351XP. Sold out for this recent order so I purchased the 2008XP. I'm not worried about the switch. The company is probably feeling material shortages like the rest of the world so I can deal with a model change. Royer makes great boots so I'm sure I'll be happy with a different boot. Only a couple of issues I have are these. 1) The 2008XP has different laces from the 2350 and 2351 XP models. May not be a big deal but the laces on the former models are the best I've had on boots. I've worn out laces and had to order from a specialty online lace company. Haven't found the specific aftermarket lace that works as best as the stock one from Royer. Called the company and they sent me a free replacement pair. Royer should offer their laces for sale online as well.

Issue #2) Steel or composite toe protection. I've appreciated the toe protection over the years but have found that my large toes have developed Spurs from the steel or composite inserts. I'm 67 years old and still working construction. My body parts might be starting to wear out, so that may be the reason for the Spurs. I wish Royer would manufacture a similar style boot without the insert, though in the US it's somewhat a requirement. Suggestion for others with the same issue is to go up 1/2 size larger if possible and wear "Darn Tough" wool socks. Wearing these socks year round along with the larger boot size has helped relieve the majority of the foot pain. My feet do not overheat in the hot weather due to the excellent construction of the boot. I love the feel and light weight of the 2351XP. We'll see how the 2008XP works out over time.

Great boots. I don't know when these boots were developed but wish I caught onto them when I started in the construction trades 50 years ago. Been using them for the past 15 years and will always be the default for future purchases.
